Under Her Care by lucinda berry

A mayor’s wife dies and the main suspect is Mason, an autistic teenager.
Detective Casey Walker comes in to help with the case. She is open to Mason being guilty or not guilty.
We go with Casey to meet Mason and his mother. Oh my what a pair these two were.
I immediately disliked his mother.
I wanted to believe Mason was incapable of murder so I kept reading and reading until the story finished.

What a wild ride this book was, compelling and gripping.

I really can’t say more without spoiling the book, just go read it and clear a few hours because y’all won’t want to put it down.

the do-over by lynn painter

The Do-Over

Stuck in Valentine’s Day hell!

Emilie Hornby has the absolute worst Valentine’s Day ever! Her boyfriend Josh cheats on her. Heartbroken she goes to Grandma’s to sob her heart out.

And falls asleep. And wakes up- To The very SAME Valentine’s Day over and over and over again!

Will she ever get out of it and into February 15th?

And what about Nick, her surly lab partner who pretends to ignore her constantly?

I love a good do over, a good Groundhog Day sort of story, and this one was so entertaining.

I felt Emilies pain as she saw Josh cheat day after day.

I enjoyed her DONC (Day of No Consequences) as she relived Valentine’s day.

Just a great fun read!

Highly recommended.

The Single Mums’ Book Club Victoria Cooke

Started with laughter, ended with a swoony contented smile.

Stephanie is a single mother to 3 young children. She is struggling to cope after her husband left her to live the single life. He isn’t reliable with picking up the children, and she often has a difficult time on her child free nights.

The first chapter had me literally laughing aloud and crying happy tears. This book was relatable for sure!

I felt bad when Stephanie realized her friends were either her husbands friends or just “coupled up” while she was now single, so left out of things. True to life for sure.

Something happens in a store and her neighbor sort of rescues her from something. And they start talking, and realize they need something more out of life. So they get to know each other a bit better and form a book club. I liked the book club hijinks.

Their little book clubs grows a bit and they actually become friendly.

Stephanie gets a job, and her boss is almost too good to be true.

Edward is swoon worthy. And real. And not the dashing prince sort of man, more of a real man, awkwardness and all.

I enjoyed watching their story bloom and how he interacted with her pet and her children. This couple would be one I would like to be friends with in real life.

Such a joy, fun, cozy and funny romance here. Just a great escape if you are reading it around the holidays even. No it doesn’t have a Christmas theme though but the book was So so very enjoyable!

Go get this and read it now you won’t be sorry you will be happy!

Thank you NetGalley and the author and publisher for the complimentary e arc for my honest review.

A Cat Cafe Christmas by Codi Gary

A Cat Cafe Christmas by Codi Gary

Like cats in your holiday romance? This book is for you!

A lovely romance, with 2 strong leads and many adorable precious cats! Kara is wary of love and focuses on opening her Meow and Furrever Cat Cafe’ instead of men.

She is a veterinarian and a good one. Her goal is to adopt the cats out to loving families.

Ben is a good strategizer who is going to help her make a strong go of the cafe. He is great at his job but his flaw? To Kara at least, he’s not a cat person.

This book was by turns funny, sweet and even a bit sad in parts.

The cats were my favorite part of the story, but the developing love story was really enjoyable as well.

I really enjoyed how the chapters opened with a cat, a drawing and their name and description, really unique and fun.

I liked how Kara and Ben grudgingly got to know each other, and then like and even love each other. I liked the growth each character showed in the story.

One Night in Christmas by debbie mason

A perfect quick holiday romance!

Sophia has had some tragedy in her life. She’s a widow and she is living in Christmas, Colorado.

Adam is her ex brother in law, whom she once loved deeply.

I really enjoyed the small town feel of the story. Both Adam and Sophia were nice characters and I was rooting for the second chance romance to form and blossom.

I loved her best friend as well.

There are characters who pop in from the rest of the books in the series.

Highly recommended!

Other Birds Sarah Addison Allen

—Other Birds Sarah Addison Allen

Another enchanting read by the author.

We meet Zoe when she decides to move into her late mother’s apartment.

She is grieving of course and she meets her new neighbors and even a ghost or two.

I really liked Zoe and the characters in this book. It was endearing and unusual and just heartbreaking at times.

I liked the new beginnings and the ghosts of course.

Who would enjoy the book? People who like quirky books, with a bit of loss and healing and ghosts, someone who has read and enjoyed the author’s earlier books would really enjoy this one too.

only one life by ashley farley

Ashley Farley has done it again!
Julia falls in love with Jack and marries him, much to her wealthy parent’s dismay.

They live their lives estranged from her parents because her father forbade the marriage. All is well enough until a freak accident happens and Julia’s life is drastically changed.

This story is so very emotional, heartbreaking at times, joyful at other times.

I loved the family story and the friendships in the book as well.

We learn about Julia, now as an adult, and we also learn about Iris, Julia’s mother and her earlier life.

I gulped this book in a few hours and went on a roller coaster of emotions.
I did close the book with a smile though.

I really enjoy this author and will read everything she’s written.

The book was very well written and the characters were fleshed out and felt like ral people.

Highly recommended!

Emotional family and friendship story

her perfect life by emily shiner

A wild unbelievable murder mystery thrilling read!

The story begins with Millie being released from prison after ten years because she is not guilty of murder. Her twin sister Eve framed her for murdering Eve’s husband.

Millie goes to visit Eve and decides she wants Eve’s life. It’s just too perfect. Not all twins are super close nor loving and these fit that bill of being unloving toward the other for sure.

I did not like one character in the story but that was the point to not like anyone.

There were many surprises since this is a thriller, and the story is told from many person’s perspective.

The book kept me engaged and reading straight through the the end.

This was another hit from what is becoming a favorite author.

Thank you NetGalley, the author and the publisher.

J.R. Silver Writes Her World by Melissa Dassori

Tweens will enjoy this magical yet realistic story. What if you could create reality with what you wrote? JR does just this.
That’s the magical element.

What if you missed out on summer camp and your bff is now a bff with someone else and you are getting nudged out? that’s the realistic part.

I really enjoyed this story and I think tweens will too.
